The Climbing Vine Vase was inspired by the consistent pattern of leaves that I have observed by many climbing plants in my garden. The leaves on the vine alternate like steps and create a harmonious rhythm of visual interest.
This vase was wheel thrown using a white stoneware clay, which was then covered in a colored slip and finally carved away to reveal the final design. The technique is called Sgrafitto and has been used by artists for over a millennium.
This piece has been glazed both on the outside and inside, making it suitable to hold water.

All of our ceramic pieces are microwave and dishwasher safe; however, to extend the life of your ceramic piece we recommend refraining from heating in a microwave, and hand washing as much as possible. Unsuitable for oven or freezer use.
