The Climbing Vine Vase was inspired by my very real life wisteria plant that I have growing in my garden. It started as a small branch, but now has entirely consumed the garden arch it climbs. It yearns for more light and more space. And though there isn’t much more area it can grasp, the vine ceases to amaze me with its ambition.
This vase was hand built using the coil pot method, then covered in a layer of colored clay, and meticulously carved away to reveal the design. The technique is called Sgrafitto and has been used by artists to create visual depth for over a millennium.
This piece has been glazed both on the outside and inside, making it suitable to hold water.

All of our ceramic pieces are microwave and dishwasher safe; however, to extend the life of your ceramic piece we recommend refraining from heating in a microwave, and hand washing as much as possible. Unsuitable for oven or freezer use.
