The Vine on a Trellis Vase was inspired by a climbing plant in my backyard garden (not planted by me) that has decided to take over a trellis that I made for my beans to grow on. Though I’ve tried pulling it out as I would any weed in my garden, this unknown plant persists.
This vase was wheel thrown using a white stoneware clay, which was then covered in a colored slip and finally carved away to reveal the final design. The technique is called Sgrafitto and has been used by artists for over a millennium.
This piece has been glazed both on the outside and inside, making it suitable to hold water.

All of our ceramic pieces are microwave and dishwasher safe; however, to extend the life of your ceramic piece we recommend refraining from heating in a microwave, and hand washing as much as possible. Unsuitable for oven or freezer use.
